The Great Homie addition part 3.

Next we had to move decorative rocks in the front yard and put down weed barrier. Plants to come next spring. We have moved these rocks soooooo many times. The kids have gotten good at moving rocks. Concrete pourers formed up the footings and the foundation, then poured those. We had to cut out the fireplace surround in the basement. That was quite the feet.. Luckily Nic came to help because we needed all the muscle we could muster. We pushed and pushed and wedged and pounded with sledge hammers and that thing would not budge. Finally we rented a jack hammer and broke the base down and finally it tipped out. Bob came with his tracker and broke it apart and we hauled all of the broken bits of concrete to the newly poured windows and out. Then from the grass to the garbage pile. Kids moving rocks again.

I spent so much time going to Home Depot and Lowes. This doggie with sunglasses was hanging out in the parking lot one afternoon. I totally made my third trip to Home Depot worth it.

We mended many many broken pipes as well. gI am pretty good with sprinklers now. Jeff is the pro, I am just a good assistant. The boys are great at digging the holes.

This huge concrete saw cut out the window and the fireplace surround. These cuts later became the doors to the new electric room and bedrooms.
Asher's favorite pastime is watching people in the hole.

The concrete pump went over the house... so cool.

The great Home-ie addition adventure part 2.

With all of the yard and structure demo done we are ready to begin the excavation. This is super duper fun. Bob Jones is the best ever, and helped us move dirt. He is so talented at tractor driving. I figured if I supplied him with sandwiches, treats and bottles of water he wouldn't die of heat out playing in the dirt.  But then it snowed on him instead. We also broke up the concrete on the side of the house. This was actually really scary because we had an earthquake and it felt like a big quake all over again.
