New today!

We had really great day. This morning Jeff and I went up to see Alex. He had a great night and we did too. Except for the fact I had to get up a few times to pump. I am loving that by the way. (can you see the sarcastic look on my face) then we went back to the room for lunch. We got some advice to order lots from the menu, and we even ordered two big granny b pink frosting cookies. (Thanks Kathy and Rob) We loved staying at the U. It was a different experience because I wasn't on a normal postpartum recovery floor. There were a mix of different patients on the same floor. Then this afternoon I was released and we went home for showers. We came back this afternoon. He is still doing very well. He has the most adorable bear, that has a pulse sound, like he is still in the womb that he totally loves and makes him feel really comfortable. Thanks for thinking of us Matthis's. He is just so snugly. We got to hold him again today. Every time I feel soooooo lucky. We are just waiting now for the nurses to switch out, then I am going back in. We will know more about his surgery tomorrow, nothing is for sure yet. We will keep you posted.

While Jeff and Brynn were home showering, I got to hold Alex and rock him. What a joy for a Grandma to finally get her hands on this sweet, precious little boy. He is so beautiful, looks alot like Ryleigh when she was born, and even more like his Dad when he was born!! We love him so much, and I can't wait to get my hands on him again.

Brynn and Jeff Homer Family,
Congrats! Alex is beautiful and he looks so much like Ryleigh. Know that your family is in our hearts and prayers out here in Maryland! Best wishes for tomorrow. You are such amazing people. Thanks for your examples and friendship. Love, Chad and Brendalyn Hacking

You are so welcome about the cookies and food advice. I am glad that you are feeling good. Ryleigh was so cute at church on Sunday. She is in good hands and I told your mom if she ever needs some playmates for Ryleigh, she could send her over to play with Audrey and Sophie. They would love it. Anyway, I hope to see more of little Alex and can't wait to hear how things are going each day. It is so fun to be a part of your adventures up at Primary Children's. We pray for you all each day and know that Heavenly Father is pleased with how you are caring for little Alex. All will go well, that is our hope. We wish you the best in the upcoming days. love Kathy

P.S. The pumping thing...oh boy, that is one of those major challenges in life. I did not enjoy nor will I probably ever want to do that again, but I found a way to make it bearable. I brought snacks and a good book with me that I only read while pumping so I could look forward to it. It helped and I read the whole book. It also gave Rob and I a new topic to talk about during the long hours in our rocking chairs next to Max's bedside. So anyway, just a thought. Good Luck with all that and oh how I know how you feel. Just a heads up too, I missed a few night pumpings and everything was ok. So if you need the sleep, than sleep. That's my 2 cents for whatever it is worth. Oh I meant to ask if you were able to get a "Parent's Room" from the social worker? Notice the pictures in the rooms, Rob and I donated those from the gallery. Just a fun fact. We wanted to leave a little something from Max. Enjoy! Love Kathy

Ok, I promise that I am so done with this last comment but I had to say it "YEAH, Alex and Max share a room". That is the best room in the house ya know. Enjoy your peace and quiet over there and know you are royalty in the PICU. See ya - Kathy
