Potty training

Hummm, I have never owned a pet that I was totally in charge of besides my Beta fish. Those things never die, plus it really didn't require much, an occasional water change, some food, and yup that's about it. Our family could leave for a week and that thing would still be alive when we returned, doing so on just a pinch of food..... So this puppy thing has got me fit to be tied.... You have to understand that my knowledge is limited to what I see other pet owners doing and also books. I run to the library when I need to figure something out. Well all the books say patients and a calm disposition and in no time your puppy will be relieving themselves outside. HA! My carpet has suffered and as soon as we get this down it is getting shampoo-ed. This is the total nutso thing, Gator is on board with the whole potty training thing. We have bribed him with what he thinks is the ultimate- A Monster Truck Rally- Can you imagine this little boy! He isn't very good at it yet and now I need to have my carpets cleaned because of two mess makers...

We haven't been out much.. Also if you come by and there is a FUNK! Sorry....

I hear you. That is one of my biggest fears about getting a dog. I'm glad you're doing it first and can tell me all about it. Good luck. The Monster Truck Rally sounds like a great prize. Also trying a sweet drink (like orange soda) that is also a diuretic can be a great (and helpful) reward. That way every time he goes, he gets something that makes him need to go. It worked wonders for a friend of mine.

I love that you got Ry a dog and made me look like the worst mom on planet earth....kidding. Ellie is so jealous and keeps asking when she can play with Ry and her dog. I absolutely refused to potty train and thank heavens it was summer and she could stay outside to do her business (im referring to our dog). I finally gave her away because, like you, I was fit to be tied and potty training kids is hard enough. You go girl. Good luck with that and I wish I had some helpful pointers. If you decide to quit like me, I know a real nice family in St. George who LOVES dogs....:)

So sorry about the carpet, mine is also suffering and I will be suprised if we have carpet for how often it gets shampooed LOL Our puppy Maddie (shrokie)is now 6 months old and still NOT potty trianed!!! She is learning, but the smaller the bread the harder to train!!! The vet told me if you can't watch them every second to lock them up. Kennel or I just use a baby gate in the kitchen so if she does have an accident it's easy to clean up. Patience is very important GOOD LUCK!!! Your puppy is adorable and I love the pictures!
