Found it!

We found out what caused Alex to become so sick. It is an infection called clostridium difficile or c-diff. It is an infection of the colon and often the normal gut flora get eradicated by using an antibiotic, which Alex was on for his bacilia cereous. The c-diff is present in your colon and when the flora is gone the c-diff colonizes and causes really bad gastrointestinal pains and diarrhea. Well Alex had gone potty soooooo much that he was dehydrated and that made him very sick. So he has been on the new antibiotics to kill the bacteria that all started with an antibiotic. Yeah, crazy. He is doing better and I can tell he is, because he can finally rest more comfortably. We just need to keep an eye out for the rest of us so we don't get it because it is contagious. Any way I will be glad when they move us to the floor which they have talked about happening tomorrow.....

Hey Brynn:
C-Diff is some nasty stuff. My niece Allysha has had it a couple of times and it was not fun! I am praying for Alex and your family!

Tell Alex that there are easier ways to see the great PICU nurses again. I think sometimes the withdrawals are from the meds and from the nurses! Hug on Alex for us!! In leiu of flowers, please send hand sanitizer to the Homers!!

I'm not much into flowers but I have noticed that Sam's Club has the BIG gallon size hand sanitizer....I know that this experience has been scary but it seems to be the path that these special kids all take, they seem to get sick quick and easy try and do your very best to protect Alex and we will continue to pray for his speedy recovery.I think that the PCMC telethon starts this weekend...Anyone reading this please support the hospital that does so much for our kids.

I told you I'd read the whole thing and I did. What a wild ride and it doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon. Best of luck to you and your little family. You all are fighters with a lot of faith. My prayers are with you. Nora
