Update #5

We are finally back with our man. I don't really know what I was expecting to see. Maybe I thought he would look similar to when he was a baby all puffy and such. He looked better than I imagined. He still needed to be intubated because of his blood pressure, but he worked really hard to get that tube out. One thing I really noticed was how twitchy he was. That was from the anesthesia. He has a ton of monitors still and as soon as I walked into the CICU it had the very same smell that I remembered. Not a bad smell, just a super clean-coffee-adhesive smell. Gator tried to talk to us while intubated. You can't talk with that big tube down your throat so he resorted to shaking his head to tell us yes or no. Finally we got to take it out and the very first thing he said is "where's my dad?" Of course it is cause daddies are the coolest! Now he is totally fixated on having a drink. He just keeps saying over and over "okay I am ready for that drink now!"
Well more later.

I'm so happy for you guys and for Alex. We thought the same as you about the swelling. Ashton had a lot of lines in but his color was so good. We went on vacation to Moab this summer and he hiked around in the heat and kept up with everyone. We were shocked at how good he did. I'm just so happy for you to be on the other side of this surgery. I promise you that Alex will make up for any energy he didn't have before this surgery. If you're still around next week Ashton has an apt. on the 2nd at 11am. Take care guys.

So so happy that gator is doing so well. I think I have eaten my way through the day because I was so nervous. Give that gator a kiss from us.

Oh sweet Gator! It sounds like he woke up from a nap, not a major surgery. Great job little man!

Yey! Skyler has been asking us(Rob and I) ALL DAY long wanting to know how it went. I finally had a time to sit and read your blog to him and he felt relieve, "Oh, good. Now I can go to bed..." He's been praying for him every single prayers. Sky had very minor surgery 3 times in the past and he knows how uncomfortable coming out from "sleepy meds"(Sky gets bad reaction), so he was concerned. We'll keep you all in prayers. Even little things, let us know how we can help :) Satomi

I left a message on IHH's facebook page about Gator having his surgery today and sending him well wishes. After Brytten's comment about respecting other people's privacy, I just wanted to make sure that I didn't overstep my bounds. I didn't mention him by his "real" name, but I didn't ask for you permission to post. I hope I didn't overstep my bounds and if I did I want to apoligize.

I'm glad to hear he is doing well. Hopefully the next couple of days continue to get better and better.
