The Room reveal

We have a lovely house, one that we are proud of and one that we built with our own hands. All five of the little Homies have been brought to this home. As our family has grown so has the need for space and so we have finished the basement and are planning a remodel of the upstairs. Now, because that seems pretty daunting we also looked for a new house. After all, this was going to be our starter home.

Our roots are pretty deep now. While I really like moving (we moved quite a bit while I was little), I can't imagine how difficult it would be now that I am an adult. We even found homes we liked a lot. They, of course, were all well out of our price range for what we have now. And we kept looking for things we have now and could never find anything. Sooooooooooo...We are staying put and changing our current home to fit our needs/wants better. The first thing on the list was the master suite. Specifically the closet situation and the room.

The little girls were sharing a room upstairs. But we took them down to Gator's room and he is now bunking with Asher. This will be until we do our addition which will add two more rooms downstairs.

For anyone with children. Zip-it bedding (20.00 bucks on groupon, only these two styles) is the only way to go... My one year old can, "I do it"...

Demo- All the kids love demo.. Especially Asher and Alex.

We took out the dividing wall and moved it over three feet to make our room larger, we also changed the point of entry and this made us change the attic access.

New studs in place for walls to go up.

With everything painted Jeff started installing portions of our new closet!!!!

We got the flooring all done and started the masonry. I watched tons of YouTube videos and was sure I could master putting brick up. Lucky for us Angie came to help out. I still messed up a lot. We didn't have enough adhesive stuff on the back, bricks were falling off super easy. It was stressful.

One brick left,

The wall all finished but not mortared yet.

So you have to wash the mortar off really fast before it dries and leaves a terrible white film on everything... Two acid washes later and we are a go for the sealer. Which totally turned the wall white again.

Then we tried everything from grinding off the sealer with a drill, to scrubbing with acetone. In the end we love how it turned out.

We also had to wait for a chair we ordered from RC Willey. We ordered it in November, were told it wouldn't be in until March, got a call in March that we had to wait till May, they must have needed to make the darn thing from scratch, so in the meantime we found the amazing grey chair...... Our brown chair finally came in the other day... It was the squeekiest chair in the world. So we called and they brought out another. I was already miffed...  I wasn't about to just live with a squeaky chair.

Here is the reveal:

Features-

USB outlets, even on new headboard

Charging station for kids electronics. We ask that they bring their IPods and phones to our room at night.
barn door to the closet
Plenty of space on both sides

Belt storage
Extending tie racks
Walk in linen closet, with motion sensor lights

Motion sensor foot lights
Plenty of under bed storage

There are just a few minor decorations I need to put up, then, voila....  This has been the perfect place to escape to read and relax.

Next on the list is the master bath.
